Commuters...Benefits

Commuters Benefit

It has been a while that I am roaming around to the roads of this beautiful sand stormed weathered country with exceptional and astonishing landmarks of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

For the past years, I have managed to manoeuvre to these ever changing roads of the metropolis, as what other people say during that time. that the road of today might not be the same road of tomorrow because of the never ending construction.

Being an OFW ( Overseas Filipino Worker) working in this magnificent country has its challenges, but being a Filipino, there is always ways to meet end met or should I say deal with the situation. The chance to encounter fellow commuter with smelly arms with the glory of sweat all over. The ever loud commuters always talking on their phone for the whole trip and if not playing a game. The busy and full packed rush hour.

Below are some transportation while in Dubai ( note pictures were not mine credits to the owner)

1. Bus - buses these days are much larger, longer and more convenient with a very good air conditioning, beautiful seats and a high-tech toll system ( I mean when you pay) in the presence of a Nol Card at AED 3-5 per trip (that is in my case, from Mall of Emirates Station to my workplace.) - less hassle than before with only AE1.50 per trip I cannot recall if it was per area but I'm pretty sure its per trip but the waiting then was something to bare especially in the summer where the sun is nearer Dubai than anywhere else.

2. Abra - this is a boat ride normally only operates in the straights of Deira Creek and Bur Dubai. I only encountered the Abra for like 2-3 times and cost only I think at AED 5

3. Taxi - taxi's in Dubai is color coded and the driver has its respective uniform depending on the color of the taxi (so neat). The initial ride cost AED12 and I think it's AED.50 succeeding rate.

4. Metro - This is the newest form of transportation in Dubai which was operated in September 2009 with Red and Green Line.  Most of the major landmarks and areas can be accessed via The Metro. The cost for the ride ranges from AED 3-7.50 depending on the location. (i might be wrong so please check the rates).

That is what Dubai offers for transportation and could transfer millions of people every day from one point to another by any means mentioned.

Hope this could remember me in the days that i would no longer be an Expat and return to my country the Philippines.
